![]() “As manufacturers continue to struggle with shortages on raw goods, particularly for us-brass cases-we decided to better control the situation by making Freedom Munitions fully capable of manufacturing these items.” “Kash CA is utilizing our already vast technical expertise to expand into a new line of rifle cartridge cases and projectiles to be able to produce a broader range of top-quality ammunition,” said Daniel Kash, president of Kash CA. The 10,000-square-foot building will provide the company more capacity to manufacture cases and projectiles for a wide array of calibers ranging from. I also need to hand cycle three rounds through the gun five times each with before/after length measuring, to check if the bullets tend to get deep-seated with multiple chambering.Kash CA, the parent company of Freedom Munitions, has broken ground on a new facility in Lewiston, ID, to expand Freedom’s line of rifle ammunition. That's a pretty big increase makes me wonder if the Freedom is an unofficial +P, gun life might definitely be effected if you shoot a lot of it. It turns out that to equal the muzzle energy of 100 gr at 955 fps on the Freedom, my Speer 90 gr Gold Dots would need to jump from their actual velocity of 933 fps up to 1010 fps. The G42 can probably take that velocity for a very long time, some smaller guns maybe not. That 955 fps is rather warm for a 100 grain bullet, in previous tests my Speer 90 gr GD averaged 933 and three lots of WWB 95 gr averaged 892/910/916. Getting out the chronograph between rain storms, 10 rds of Freedom averaged 955 fps with an ES of 77 fps. I'll have to do more accuracy/POI testing later. But they certainly grouped well enough for plinking or defensive practice out to 15 yds. ![]() POI and accuracy were hard to determine today- cold, windy, raining, shooting offhand at 25 yds in a 1 pound gun with an 8 pound trigger. Ammo also seemed as clean or cleaner than typical factory stuff. Today I fired two boxes (100 rds) through my G42 and functioning was perfect. There were no high, damaged, or backwards primers. The primers looked very slightly over-seated, but nothing serious. ![]() Pulling one bullet, there was just a faint line on the jacket where the case mouth was crimped. My magnifying glass and the calipers showed that all belling had been removed but the mouth was not crimped into the bullet (a no-no with plated bullets). The taper crimp on the 10 cases I checked, looked just perfect. The bullets look to be Extreme 100 Gr FMJ-FP plated, nice and shiny and smooth. I dropped 10 of them into the barrel of my G42 and all of them plunked in nicely. 380 cartridge gauge, but my dial caliper shows the cases to be the same diameter as Winchester factory ammo, or just a couple of thou larger. Looking at a box of 50, no cracked or damaged cases or other visible defects. All were well cleaned but not gleaming, I've seen new ammo that was dirtier. Some of them looked once-fired, others were so well-used that the headstamp lettering was hard to read. The brass has mixed headstamps, every brand I've ever heard of and a few I hadn't. They were in stock (sometimes not) and arrived about two weeks after placing my order. ![]() Recently I ordered 500 rds of Freedom Munitions.
